What is Botox?
Botox is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures available to treat age lines. With Botox, New York City patients can smooth away superficial facial wrinkles like crow’s feet, horizontal forehead lines, and glabellar lines. This FDA-approved neuromodulator treatment involves simple injections and typically only takes around 20 minutes or less.

How Does Botox Work?
Regular contraction of facial muscles during facial movements and expressions can make the muscles stiff. It becomes harder for the muscles to return to their relaxed state. This leads to the development of horizontal forehead lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines.
The botulinum toxin contained in the Botox injection is a neuromodulator. It can block chemical signals in the nerves responsible for muscle contraction.
This gives the facial muscles the opportunity to relax. The relaxation of the muscles smooths out the skin above them. In this way, this treatment effectively reduces wrinkles and facial creases.

Am I a Good Candidate?
Botox is appropriate for patients who are looking for a minimally invasive treatment for fine wrinkles. Patients above 18 years old are ideal candidates.
Women considering Botox must not be pregnant or breastfeeding. Patients who have previously tried Botox treatment and received great results are excellent candidates. The best candidates have realistic goals.
Your Consultation
During your consultation, we will evaluate your medical history and perform an examination of your facial wrinkles. If it is your first time getting a Botox treatment, we will check for allergies, especially if you have sensitive skin.
We will listen to your goals and develop a treatment plan accordingly. Additionally, we will discuss the details of the treatment plan, including the number of sessions required to achieve the desired results.
You can ask us any questions you may have during the consultation. We will finalize the schedule of your treatment if you choose to proceed.
Your Botox Session
A Botox treatment session can be as quick as 15 minutes, so it can be done during a patient’s lunch break. Topical anesthesia may be used for patient comfort.
A small amount of Botox will be injected into the target area using a tiny needle. The number of injections varies based on the treatment plan. The face will be cleaned after the treatment.
Aftercare
You can go home right after your treatment session. Recovery time will not be needed.
Rubbing or massaging the treated area will not be allowed for the first day after treatment. You will be provided with aftercare instructions, which should be followed closely.
Results
The results of the Botox injection will generally be visible within 7 to 14 days after treatment. The effects will last 3 to 4 months.
After this time, lines and wrinkles will start to reappear. To maintain optimal results, it is recommended for the patient to come in for maintenance treatments.
How Much Does Botox Cost?
The price of Botox injections will depend on the details of the treatment plan. The number of units of Botox used and the number of treatment areas can impact the overall cost of Botox.

How does Medique's education and experience in plastic surgery contribute to allowing your providers to achieve better aesthetic results for patients?
No one knows the anatomy of the face and body better than a board certified plastic surgeon and their team. Medique is not a spa made up of nurses with a non-existent MD director. It’s a team of plastic surgeons and physician associates all qualified specialists in both invasive and non-invasive aesthetics.
From a patient experience perspective, (consultation, follow-up care, etc.), what are some things that would immediately standout relative to going to a med spa owned/operated by a non MD business owner?
Complications can be avoided by searching for the correct provider to perform your procedure. Medique is where patients who want experts in plastic surgery caring for them come for care which is very different than an aesthetic injector (nurse, dentist, medical assistant) who has much less experience and knowledge.
