On the day of your tummy tuck in New York City, your surgeon and their team will welcome you to the practice at Medique and get you settled in the procedure room. A member of the staff will review your surgical plan to ensure you are comfortable proceeding with it. Once you are ready, a board-certified anesthetist will administer anesthesia to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure.
Once you are sedated, your surgeon will begin by making an incision in the lower abdomen, just above the pubic area. Next, the skin and fat are separated from the abdominal muscles. Once this is done, any excess skin and fat are removed. In cases of excess fat, this may be achieved through liposuction. The muscle area is then tightened, and the skin pulled back over it. Another incision will be made to readjust the position of the belly button. Finally, the incisions will be closed using internal sutures. Depending on the procedure, your surgeon might choose to place a drain to prevent fluid buildup during recovery.
